SUBJECTS:
Enthusiasm, expansion, moving on, flexibility, Holy Spirit, over-zealousness, weakness, shyness, aliveness.

The above subjects can become issues for healing during this course whether or not you’re doing it in October. The monthly associations are especially helpful for further attuning to the energies. For instance, October is traditionally Halloween so goes with orange, and it also celebrates Columbus Day, so Zeal, new horizons, and expansion seem appropriate.

SIMON THE ZEALOT

There is very little written in the Bible about Simon the Zealot, who represents Zeal. However, we know he’s a Zealot, (like Judas), a political party similar to freedom fighters. He’s sometimes called Simon, the Canaanite, because he’s from Canaan, which is the Promised Land. Charles Fillmore says, “The redeemed body is the Promised Land, and when man rediscovers this lost domain all the promises of the Scriptures will be fulfilled”… “In order to redeem the body man must enter with his spiritual thoughts into his organism and teach it the saving Truth” (MBD pg 138). Canaan also refers to the subconsciousness, and to mystics it’s the name of the invisible substance that surrounds and interpenetrates all forms. Thus the Zeal power must be activated in its center, the medulla oblongata in the back of the neck — in the conscious part of the body– and send its energies through the spinal chord into the subconscious realm in order to redeem, or lift up, the entire body consciousness.

One may well ask, “Why did Simon the Zealot become a follower of Jesus, who taught that the only kingdom, and the only power and authority is within?” Perhaps in the beginning Simon misunderstood and misinterpreted Jesus’ motives, and by the time he found out it was too late; he’d become a follower. On the other hand, we might ask, “Why would Jesus want Simon, an overzealous fanatic intent upon overthrowing the roman government, as a disciple?” Yet, we could ask the same question about Thomas, the doubter; Peter, the waverer; Nathanael, the skeptic; or Matthew, the tax-collector. I suppose the answer is the same as to why He would choose any of us. Jesus had a message to present to everyone in every level of life, so He needed disciples who would relate to them. Simon was no doubt alive with Zeal and Enthusiasm, and when the job needed doing he’d do it. And I’m sure he put the same degree of Zeal into Jesus’s mission once he understood.

Simon needed training and discipline to direct his fervor with positive maturity, just as our own zeal needs tempering with balance (Order) and Wisdom. His Zeal probably rallied to the challenge of overthrowing the powers of negativity and limitation that Jesus said keeps us in bondage and separated from our true power and authority.

Simon was one of the last three disciples called by Jesus. In the development of the Twelve Powers it’s good that Zeal is not activated until after Wisdom, Order, and Love. If you’re already a zealous person you will need some preparation and discipline. If you’re a shy, reticent person, then you’ll want to work with this power of Zeal for more aliveness.

I cannot overemphasize the importance of continually asking for more Wisdom and balance as you develop these powers. My only regret in teaching this course is seeing students get off-balance when the ego takes over as they feel a new sense of freedom and power. So always call forth Wisdom and Order with Zeal. (Read “Twelve Powers of Man” by Charles Fillmore for in-depth understanding of the metaphysical symbology of this, and all Mind-powers.)

THE WHOLE SPIRIT OF GOD

Zeal is energy just as the other Twelve Powers. It originates from Divine Substance, which is another word for God. So Zeal is an activity of God. It is the forward thrust; the spark of life. It’s the atomic energy at the heart or core of life. It’s an infusion that gives us go-power: God-power. This activity of God is the Holy Spirit, or Whole-Spirit of God.

Charles Fillmore, in “Atom Smashing Power of Mind” says the original Greek language, used in parts of the Bible, is interpreted that they would receive dynamic energy, so “to be filled with the Holy Spirit” is to realize the activities of Spirit in individual consciousness.” He compares the Holy Spirit (third in the Trinity of Father, Son, Holy Spirit) as expression: Mind, Idea, and Expression. Mr. Fillmore suggests that a prayer treatment by an experienced spiritual healer is a baptism and that the lowest method of imparting this baptism is prayer and laying on of hands. But, he says the highest form is realizing the Holy Spirit, or being aware of the Holy Spirit presence through the power of the word.

This is given credence as we remember the words of the Book of John, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. It’s talking about Mind, Idea Expression, as the Creation Story. That’s how God created, and that’s how we create. John the Baptist said of Jesus, “This is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.” And Jesus said, “He who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father.” Therefore it seems reasonable to assume that we too can baptize with the Holy Spirit.

I’m suggesting you expand your consciousness beyond its previous understanding, beliefs, limitatations, or considerations and ask the Holy Spirit to make itself known to you. The following process will assist in this experience.

HOLY SPIRIT PROCESS

When you are ready and comfortable close your eyes, take a deep breath, and release. As you release your breath slowly let go of every preconceived idea or notion you have had about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Take another deep breath and turn your attention within to your I AM. Take another deep breath and visualize an orange energy of Light centering in the back of your neck, the center for Zeal.

Allow the orange energy to begin gently swirling through your neck, head, and entire body, affirming “I AM ZEAL, I AM ZEAL, I AM ZEAL.” As the orange energy continues swirling through your body affirm “I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD, I AM, I AM, I AM. Continue with this affirmation. Whatever experiences you’re having do not invalidate with doubt or disbelief. Be with your experience as you continue your affirmation. Imagine yourself as a radiating Light or Energy that is becoming more and more intense as you affirm “I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD.” Allow this energy to grow in intensity until it explodes as radiant energy. Imagine yourself as the radiant energy. When you’re ready to continue use this radiant energy to transport you to the Upper Room where all the disciples are gathered. Matthias has replaced Judas. Mary, the mother of Jesus is with the other women, and the brothers of Jesus are here too.

Look around the room and familiarize yourself with everyone; acknowledge them with a nod, smile, or silent greeting. Feel the love, support, and acceptance they are offering you. Allow yourself to merge into the consciousness of this room. Feel the energy and power that has gathered as they continue praying. Join with them in prayer. Continue in this consciousness of prayer and meditation using whatever affirmations come to you. Experience the energy and sensation of Light. You are preparing for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. When you are ready for it, it will be ready for you. Have no expectations, but enthusiastic expectancy. Your experience may not be the same as described in the Bible, but here are the words to help prepare your consciousness:

“When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly a sound came from heaven like the rush of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them tongues of fire, distributed and resting on each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Continue in prayer until it happens. RECEIVE THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.

You may ask the Holy Spirit any questions you wish to expand your awareness and understanding. Do not fret if you don’t experience the “tongues of fire” the first time. Remember the disciples who were with Jesus three years didn’t receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit until after Jesus died, resurrected, and ascended.

When you have completed your experience become aware of the room, open your eyes and be fully alive in the present moment. If you have blocks and barriers that stand in the way of experiencing the Holy Spirit do not effort to have the experience. It will come when it is the right and appropriate time. Continue to prepare your consciousness and repeat the process. It is important to begin this phase of your expansion until you receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. It was probably this sort of excitement that inspired Charles Fillmore, at age 94, to write: “I fairly sizzle with zeal and enthusiasm, and I spring forth with a mighty faith to do those things that ought to be done by me!”

And Charles Fillmore did tremendous things in his teachings and writings. He was generations ahead of his time in understanding and teaching of scientific and spiritual matters. I recommend his books for everyone interested in expanding their knowledge of deep spiritual truths. Jesus said, “You shall know the Truth and the Truth shall set you free.” The Truth that will set you free is that the Holy Spirit is Love! That was my realization during my Holy Spirit Process.

HEAD ‘EM UP; MOVE ‘EM OUT

I get enthusiastic when I think about this part I call expansion. The above is an oldtime cowboy expression for moving ahead. I like the modern-day version “Getting off it, and getting on with it.” In other words get off all your positions and move to new ones. Whatever you’ve been doing that you’re attached to, try something different. Get a new perspective, or outlook, or approach. It’s like you’re standing on one position looking around and saying, “This is the only position to be on.’ Of course you can’t see that position because you’re on it. Now if you move over to the next position you can look back, and you can also look ahead to the next. You can then decide whether you want to stay on the new position, go back to the old, or move ahead to the new.

I’ve found it’s difficult to move back to the old because you’ve outgrown that consciousness. However, let it be okay to go back if that’s where you feel comfortable. For instance, if you shop at a certain store, or go a certain route to work, or wear certain type clothing, or keep the same hairstyle, try something different.

Some people have a definite pattern for eating: meat first, then vegetable, then potato, and of course desert is last. Change the pattern; maybe desert first. It’s great! If you have a set morning routine, change it. That means if you put on your left sock first, switch to the right one first. If you shave before you shower, reverse. This may be sounding uncomfortable, but go ahead and try it; you may like it. At least you’ll definitely know if you don’t like the new way, and that you prefer the old. You can use your imagination for this exercise; it can be ongoing. I decided I would begin preparing for this session by taking another new route on my morning walk. I didn’t like it, so this morning I went back to my old route, and it still feels good. So I’ll stay with it awhile; until it doesn’t feel good anymore.

Here s a fun expansion idea. Instead of shopping at your regular supermarket, try another; especially if you go there because the prices are cheaper.

Along these same lines, let’s move away from a bargain-basement” consciousness that has been perpetuated by the advertising industry to increase their own prosperity, but certainly noone else’s. You may say, “What’s wrong with that?” But look what it’s doing to your consciousness. It’s creating a “something for nothing attitude. If you’ve developed your prosperity consciousness this idea won’t bother you. Instead of shopping where you know there’s a bargain price, pay the full price. Why? Because the few cents, or maybe dollars, you save are not worth the effect on your prosperity consciousness. This doesn’t mean you have to do it all the time. Just try it as a reality check. I’ve had a coupon-book consciousness. It’s tough for me to pay the full price when I know I can get two-for-one with a coupon. My husband doesn’t like the coupon-consciousness, so I find it difficult to enjoy my meal when I know I can get it for half price. Through the years I’ve reached a balance where I can use the coupons when I go to those restaurants, but if I prefer another eatery it’s okay to pay full price. When I started these changes I had a lot of trouble changing the patterns, so I threw away the coupons, quit reading the sale ads, and I found a supermarket I liked and shopped there whether items were on sale or not. What a breakthrough! It’s amazing how our lives are run by sales, bargains, and discounts.

You’ll enjoy this next exercise. It’s simple: buy something you’ve always wanted without the consideration that you can’t afford it. The truth is you can’t not afford it. We always seem to have money for the things we’re willing to spend on. It’s a matter of priorities. Smokers and drinkers always seem to have money for their habits, so expand on that idea and you’ll discover you do have money to buy that longed-for item.

The same idea, only different: Buy something you’ve always needed, but just couldn’t afford, or didn’t buy for whatever reason. This eliminates your “need” consciousness, and it also changes some long-standing patterns.

Are you beginning to experience the expansion consciousness already? Let’s take it further. For instance, if you want a Rolls Royce. You’ve put it on your Treasure-map, and you visualize and affirm, so now for what I call exposure. Go to the Rolls Royce agency, talk with the salesperson, sit in the car, and go for a ride. Discuss the financial arrangements, and take home their brochures to study and use on your Treasure-map. If you know someone with a Rolls, ask if you can ride in it, ask questions about upkeep and cost. Become so familiar with a Rolls that you feel you already own one.

Perhaps you want to live in a certain area. Drive through frequently until it becomes your neighborhood, get out and walk around, and talk with the neighbors. Find out the taxes, and all appropriate information. Learn the name of the water company, garbage collectors, and subscribe to the local paper. Familiarize yourself with the shopping centers, theaters, schools, and library. Do you see the positive effect on your consciousness?

You can use the same method for a job, mate, or whatever you wish to create in your life. For instance, a gal wanting a wealthy husband can saturate herself with the lifestyle she wants to live. Frequent the symphony, ballet, expensive dress shops, and live the roll. Become the woman for that man. Learn about finances, investments; develop the culture and poise essential for that lifestyle. The same applies to a man. Become the role, associate with the people in that consciousness.

Of course you must maintain balance, wisdom, and good judgment. Let’s not develop a society of people like “The Great Imposter,” who tried to be something he wasn’t, and landed in jail. What I’m talking about is building a consciousness for the lifestyle you desire. Otherwise you won’t be able to maintain it; either you’ll lose it, or it’ll be taken from you. The most important step for all the above is to convince yourself you deserve it; you’re worthy of the good things in life you desire. Ask yourself: Am I ready and willing to leave behind the conditions, things, people, thoughts, feelings, habit-patterns, relationships, beliefs and all other conditions that are no longer serving me in a positive way? Am I willing to “get off it and get on with it”? Am I willing to push through the uncomfortableness of change and the unfamiliar in order to leave the bondage and limitation of my past lifestyle. And am I willing to move through whatever is necessary to attain the unlimited supply and opulence of the prosperous living I desire?

EXPANSION PROCESS

When you are comfortable take a deep breath and relax. Visualize the orange energy of Zeal until it becomes very intense. Then allow your subconscious to imagine a place where you can have fun; perhaps a carnival, amusement park, or Disneyland. Allow your inner child to assist you in learning how to have fun again, in case you forgot. Ride all the rides, even the ones you think you don’t want to ride. Try all the games, even the ones you think are silly, dumb, or a rip-off. Eat all the cotton candy, hot dogs, and ice cream you want, even if they aren’t allowed on your diet. Be a kid again. Have a ball. When that is complete imagine yourself doing something you’ve always wanted to do. Fill in all the details, and have a wonderful time. Now imagine yourself doing something you never wanted to do. Let go all the considerations about it, and just enjoy doing it. Then imagine yourself going someplace beyond your wildest dreams — the ultimate exotic fantasy. This may be a stretch, but imagine the worst place; go there and have fun.

Now imagine yourself going through your daily routine, and get in touch with all your thoughts and feelings. If it’s not what you want, then decide what steps you can take to change it. Then visualize yourself going through a day in your new lifestyle, and notice your thoughts and feelings. Go back through all the above scenarios and imagine yourself with the person who presently shares your life; or with the person you wish you could be with — or both. Be aware of all your emotions, and don’t be ashamed of what you may be feeling — or wanting. Are there steps you can take to improve any of these scenes?

When you are finished with the process, open your eyes and write down some of the ideas and feelings. An ongoing process can be to start taking steps toward having the life you really want.

Here’s a good affirmation: I am alive, awake, joyous, and enthusiastic about life.
